I was intrigued by the Ottogi Simply Kimchi-Jeon Mix, as pancakes are one of my favorite things to order at Korean restaurants. Different from American breakfast pancakes, Korean pancakes are savory and crispy, not sweet and fluffy. The instructions looked simple enough, so I thought I’d give this mix a try.

Preparation Instructions
For the pancakes, all you need in addition to the mix is water and oil.
First, you pour the white powder mix into a bowl. Then you add 6.76 oz of water and mix it. The consistency is fairly thick and sticky.
Third, you add the kimchi sauce (red pack) and mix.
Finally, you will drizzle cooking oil in your non-stick pan and fry the pancakes over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes, until brown and crispy. I split the mix into 2 big pancakes for frying.
How It Turned Out
My pancakes came out slightly chewier, which probably could’ve been remedied by a little more cooking time. There was a lot of kimchee in the pancake which was good, and they were quite filling. They tasted best hot, immediately off the pan. There’s nothing like having them prepared for you at a restaurant, but these were pretty good.
